"I haven't read comics in years, but, I was very impressed with what I saw in the preview. ... Keep up the great work on it."

"The website look cool. I like the character backgrounds and the five page preview looks great. I'm not a comic book reader but I would read this one."

"What I think is that I feel that I'm thrown into an action scene with no background. I see "BANG-BOOM-BANG" and then it's over. And I wonder: That was it? And the book will contain many more of these? No thanks. Where is the background story? A bit more depth would be appreciated. But this was too flat. Maybe you provide more depth later in the book."

Patrick responds: The challenge with offering a five preview is to show what the story is about (hence including the inner cover) while simultaneously giving a nice snap shot into what the heroes actually do - in this case defend the city against an Intruder and send it back. With the first issue being 32 pages, I had a lot of space to get the story started off on the right foot. Hopfully when you pick up Issue 01 you'll agree.

"The artwork is great! I think the coloring could be more bright to highlight effects. I think they'd stand out more as sudden actions. Other than that, I think it looks great. As far as characters, I think Crossfade looks more menacing than Fusion just because he looks like you wouldn't know if he was a good or bad guy at a glance. Not to say Fusion isn't tough guy looking (he is!). I think the preview portrays him as a man with a brooding past that doesn't have a balance at this point in his life (perhaps that's why he has anger issues?) which makes me want to know if there is more to him than a tough exterior he places off of well."

Patrick responds: While we are still trying to get a feel for how everything will look on paper, we've discussed at length the overall style we wanted to see for SUNSET. The book's style borrows a lot on what we like in comic books. That said, some of the best superhero art spawned from the comic book explosion in the late 80's/early 90's, which probably had some influence on the style of SUNSET. A lot of colorists today really exaggerate the highlights, making everything look glossy. Ours is toned down, although there are some pages deeper into the book that warrant more dramatic coloring.
